As we approach the Summer Months one word comes to mind “TRAVEL”. Traveling is a time to getaway and enjoy family and friends. It’s the time to escape the reality of work and everyday responsibilities. With the recent events that has happened in the Dominican Republic, it also makes us realize that even though we’re escaping our everyday realities, safety should still be our #1 priority while traveling. Here are some safety travel tips to share with your friends and family while your away.
1. Make copies of your important documentations. You should have at least three photo copies of your Passport and ID. Leave one copy with a family member. Pack one in your suitcase and carry a copy with you at all times along with your original passport and license. You can go one step further and email the copies to yourself for digital proof.
2. Enroll in the S.T.E.P. program (The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program). This is a free service that allow you to enroll your trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy. You can register your trip on the following website. https://step.state.
3. Purchase Travel Insurance. Travel Insurance just doesn’t protect your monetary purchase of your trip. It also protects you in case of emergency (hospitalization), missed flights, stolen or loss baggage, transfers & so much more. Some credit card purchases provide Travel Insurance. 4. Stay Alert at all times! Pay attention to your surroundings & incorporate a buddy system if need be. Never travel to a secluded area alone or at night.
5. Traveling alone or even with a group, purchase a Door Stopper/Alarm or Personal/Portable Alarm.
6. Research your destination; get familiar with the laws and customs of where you are traveling.
7. When retrieving alcohol or beverages from your in room mini bar make sure that your bottles have not been tampered with. If it’s plastic squeeze the bottle to see if holes were poked onto the bottles. If your beverage taste funny immediately spit it out and contact security and the front desk.
8. Only book your excursions through LBC TRAVEL COMPANY or your resort. Only travel with your resort transportation or the private transportation that was reserved through your agent.
